About

Compare two states before you move.

CompareTheData.com puts income tax, sales and property tax, home values, driver-license and car-title deadlines, title-fee sketches, parks, crime, and demographics side by side for a move from one U.S. state to another.

All 50 states + DC

Sort taxes, housing, parks, and people, then open a destination page.

Popular moves

High-demand routes such as California to Texas and New York to Florida.

Income tax

Enter yearly income and dependents, then sort states by estimated tax using 2026 brackets.

Car title costs

Enter a vehicle value and compare estimated state title charges.

What a pair page shows

Choose where you live and where you are moving. The pair page opens with an at-a-glance table, then income tax (with a calculator), vehicle title costs, the driver-license clock, a checklist, the largest differences on that corridor, and common questions. Calculators run in your browser — income and vehicle value are not sent to a server. Each page links the official DMV, tax agency, and elections office.

How the numbers are produced

Pages are generated from a structured rules file so every state-to-state pair shows the same fields. The file was last reviewed 2026-08-26.

What this is not

CompareTheData.com is not a DMV, a tax agency, or a law firm. Figures are estimates and statewide averages. Confirm a filing or a license on the official sites linked on each page. Ads, when shown, sit after the comparison and are labeled Advertisement.
